The supraspinatus of the rotator cuff group. The infraspinatus and teres minor have been ghosted in.The supraspinatus is one of the four Rotator Cuff muscles. The four Rotator Cuff muscles are:

 

ATTACHMENTS:

  • The supraspinatus attaches from the supraspinous fossa of the scapula to the greater tubercle of the humerus.

NOTES:

  1. The Supraspinatus is the first “S” of SITS (Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres minor, Subscapularis), an acronym for the rotator cuff group.
  2. The distal tendon of the supraspinatus is often impinged between the head of the humerus and the acromion process of the scapula. When this occurs it is called shoulder impingement syndrome.
